When Steve Hill began building this website, he told me there was a tab for a blog. "Cool. I'd like to do that!"
A year or two later, I've decided maybe it's time!
On Thursday I leave for Milwaukee to attend the 32nd General Synod of the United Church of Christ. Very excited! I'm kinda a newbie to GS. Other than the 1985 General Synod in Ames, IA. (That Synod is often referred to as one of the best. I was the pianist for one of the worship times. Although both accurate statements, I don't think they are connected! ;-) It wasn't until 2009 that I attended my next Synod. Full time. Days packed with Spirit-filled worship, vital discussions about denomination-wide decisions, and inspiring workshops and videos. I was told I would get hooked. Yup! I affectionately call going to Synod is just me hanging out with 3,000 of my best friends! UCC-ers are AWESOME!!!!!
So here's the plan. I'm going to try to embrace the social media information sharing more by keeping folks apprised of what I'm doing. At the last Synod I posted photos and some live video on Facebook. This Synod I'm going to try that plus Twitter (!) plus this blog. Note that word "try."
So if you'd like to join me on my journey and meet some of my 3,000 best friends, check back here, find me on Facebook at Marilyn J. Sargent, and maybe even follow me on Twitter @mjspastor13. Please keep your expectations simple -- I so dislike disappointing people! But I promise to do my very best!
In addition to the above I will be putting together a presentation to share during Sunday worship, June 30. With our new screen and projector in the sanctuary, I think it will be a good time. Y'all come!
I am so blessed to serve such an AMAZING congregation that provides me with the opportunity of attending General Synod. I can't wait to share more and more about the journey.
